Comfort for Baby, Convenience for You.
Frequently Asked Questions
FlyeBaby is not an approved CRS and cannot be used during takeoff, taxi, and landing. The seat provides a secure place to put your baby during cruise portion of the flight. The seat was developed by a mother and grandfather for their own daughter/granddaughter so safety was at the forefront of the design.

FlyeBaby is a product that offers adults a convenient place to put a baby during flight, in a dining room chair or in a lounge/beach chair. The FlyeBaby seat uses a high quality three-point harness buckle system and strength tested strapping. These features were used to offer security and peace of mind.

As with any baby or children's product an adult's responsibility and accountability is required. Do not leave a child unattended while they are in the FlyeBaby seat and it is the adult's responsibility to make sure the child is secured in the three-point harness and positioned so that their head does not touch the seat in front of them while on an airplane.

If FlyeBaby is used in the manner for which it was designed it will offer you a secure place to put your baby and give you the peace of mind to know they are safe and comfortable.

Explain to the flight attendant that you are following the FAA regulation and only using it during the cruise portion of the flight and not during taxi, take-off or landing. You may encounter flight personnel who are not familiar with the entire content of the FAA ruling. (If you have a problem using the seat please contact us and provide us with your airline and flight number. We will contact the airline and educate them on the product and the FAA regulations.)

The FAA does not prohibit the use of FlyeBaby during the cruise portion of the flight. The applicable FAA regulation is listed below. The FAA was consulted during the design process of FlyeBaby and they found no reason that the seat could not be used during the cruise portion of the flight.

AC 120-87 14. PASSENGER USE OF NON-APPROVED CRSs* ON AN AIRCRAFT, SUCH AS A CLOTH BABY CARRIER OR A VEST/HARNESS DEVICE THAT ATTACHES THE CHILD TO THE PARENT DURING FLIGHT.

a. The regulations contained in Section 121.311 prohibit the use of certain types of CRSs* during ground movement, takeoff, and landing. However, during the cruise portion of the flight there is no regulatory prohibition regarding the use of any type of child restraint, including those prohibited from use during ground movement, takeoff, and landing.

* Child Restraint Systems

FlyeBaby should NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE BE USED IN AN AUTOMOBILE or any type of moving vehicle.

FlyeBaby was designed with this situation in mind. The seat is a hammock-style seat and as long as the directions are followed, the baby's head does not touch the seat in front. There is a height marker on the FlyeBaby logo label on the front of the FlyeBaby seat. This marker is there to show that the baby's head should not be above this line to prevent contact with the seat in front.

In the event that the front seat is reclined it is done so in a slow, gradual manner so the adult has time to simply adjust the position of the baby so that the baby is comfortable. It is a good idea to inform the person in front of you that you will be using FlyeBaby during the cruise portion of the flight. Let the person know that it will not interfere with their direct comfort and ask that if they would be so kind as to turn around and let you know before they adjust their seat up or down. This courtesy will allow you to adjust the baby’s position, if need be, to ensure the comfort of the baby. People on an airplane would rather be sitting near a happy, quiet baby rather than a screaming, crying baby so extending this minor courtesy to you shouldn’t be too much to ask!

FlyeBaby is not an approved safety device. It does have a three point harness system to keep a child secure but in the event of turbulence it is recommended and states in the instrucitons that a child be removed from the seat.

FlyeBaby was originally designed to be used on business class seats that have a tray table located on the seat back in front of you. It still can be used on some first class seats but it depends on the location of the tray table and the seat pitch (distance between the two seats). Some airlines have the first class tray tables located in the arm rest and some are located on the seat back in front of you. You can always check with your specific airline or contact FlyeBaby customer service at customerservice@flyebaby.com and we will provide you with the tray table location and seat pitch details for the airline that you will be traveling.
